For the continuation of our bedroom makeover project. I together with my husband, decided to bring in some life to this particular wall. As you can see in the picture below, it badly needs a makeover.
THE BEFORE
The puzzle display you see in the picture was the only display that victoriously stick up on that wall for a long time, never mind the papers and clock.. hehehe. Most items we tried to attach in it falls off too quickly, so we didn't bother to add up anything else. We also didn't want to dig any holes in it, so concrete nails was never an option.
Last April, we cleaned up and started repainting it. However, white blemishes started to come out from the wall within the two month period. I refer it to the expert and thankfully it wasn't cause by molds or anything harmful. But again, it wasn't pleasing to look at and for me it still is boring. So, I decided to find some inspiration to bring into that particular wall and ended up choosing a brick wall. The best way to achieve it on a budget? We diy it and did a faux brick wall.
I attempted to try two different methods which happens to both fail. First, was by using a paint marker to draw a brick lines on the wall. But I made a mistake while alternating the vertical line and ended up having a non brick drawing. Also, the paint marker gave up on me and as you may observe, the lines looks dull and flat, so I discontinue.
On the other side, I tried to use a paint tape and stick it up on the wall horizontally. I was supposed to paint the gap in between with white paint. But halfway through, the first few tapes I attached on the wall started to fall off on its own. Maaksaya rin sa tape... :( One roll can only covered 1/4 of the wall.
While using a sponge may also be a good idea but I didn't use it method on this project. It would give me a white solid white brick result other than a blue brick. I prefer a blue brick with white gaps instead. Then, I got a little resourceful, when I saw a piece of styrofoam from the porch and thought of using it as a brick stamp. With the foam rectangular shape and perfect size I knew it would would help me to make this project easy and attainable.

With the use of styrofoam, soldering pencil, white paint and label we were able to create our brick wall. We've spent two hours of our Sunday afternoon to finish this project and it was so fun to do it.
Super Husband play his part! Hahahaha Thanks for helping me out in this project... |
Note: Blue wall on the picture seems to differ maybe because of the lighting and camera lenses used. But the paint was Blue Fantastic - Megacryl from Davies. Kindly refer to the original product catalog (from Davies website) in case you wish to capture the real hue.
