Sorry for a long deafening silence on my page for almost four weeks... hmmm.. There were so many things going on in my life recently, I chose to stop writing rather than publish a half baked article to read. I will share with you about my experience and what I went through when I am ready. But for now, I wanted my come back to be as sweet as the taste of victory... he..he..
I would like to share with you about my latest food discovery. I came across Pan de Manila last two days ago and saw something on their pastry display fridge and at no time I found myself drooling over a surprisingly amazing delectable - The Pan de Donuts - Baked not Fried! For being a sweet tooth that I am, of course I did not passed the chance to take a closer look and buy one for myself. Funny though, what made me decide to try it was because it looks almost identical (if not all) of what J.Co Donuts have in store. I was intrigued by the looks moreover wishes to check out how it tasted. I bought (2) two flavors that day namely Choco Monds & Cookie Crema with a price of 38.00 Php per doughnut - not bad!
I've seen at least twelve (12) flavors on the rack which includes Choco Monds (J.Co's Al capone), Chocolate Hills (Choco Caviar Chocolate), Cookie Crema (Oreology), Berrylicious (Berry Spears), In Dulce Vita (Why Nut), Nutty Crunch, Ubelicious, Snow Kisses, ChocoNut Crumble, Nippy Nips, Piling Pili and Polvoron Crumbles. They claim the donuts are bromate and trans fat free so good news for most of us.
The time I took this picture; the rack is almost empty. Choco Monds is the best seller! |
Choco Monds - A fluffy doughnut topped with white chocolate and sprinkled with a generous amount of almond nuts. Suprisingly filled with a not so sweet butter cream (if I am not mistaken) from the inside. The taste is 98% the same with JCO's Al capone. Price @ 38.00 Php :)
I agree this is such good way of promoting donuts, the Filipino way. I hope most of the ingredients are also coming from our local markets (that will make it more Filipino). On the other hand, I am not so sure about the toppings design because like what I said some of it is almost identical with what J.Co has in store. In terms of creativity I hope Pan de Manila Chefs will be able to come up with their own toppings design and combinations soon. Something unique and can't be compared with any other donuts from its competitors (well it is just a suggestion of course). However I do not have any complaints about the taste, the texture and price of Pan de Donuts and I will surely keep on coming back to try other varieties in the coming days.
It came to me that Pan de Donuts were out on selected stores for quite some time already. The fact that it is now available here in Ayala Makati it means the product is on a full blast and the hot Pan de Manila Oven are now super busy and preparing for its way to capture the hearts of many (especially Doughnut lovers). So if you are craving for some healthy doughnuts or if your are sweet and thoughtful enough to bring a perfect pasalubong for your love ones at home make sure to drop by at Pan De Manila stores and buy Pan de Donuts! don't worry it's Baked not Fried! Have a bite and enjoy...
Have a happy heart :)
