HELLO DECEMBER! Awww, can't believe we're on the last month of year 2018. So fast, right?!
Now that we only have 31 Days to finish off the year, let's make each day count and make the most out of it, shall we? :)
And what's the simplest way to set the season vibe right? For me it is simply by putting up Christmas Decor on our spaces, like most families do. We only started doing it just last year and I think we will include it as a part of our every Christmas. Mckenzie now understands and appreciates what Christmas is all about. Reason why it is more meaningful and fun to set up a Christmas decor.
Though decorating might mean additional spending, it doesn't necessarily mean that we have to spend so much. It's always a good thing to set a budget first then work on that budget as well. In our case, our little Christmas tree from last year is still in good condition. I have ornaments that can still be reuse and recycle and those I use for my diy projects. I'd rather use them all again than buy a new ones (of the same kind). Also when, i think of buying for a new decorative items, I make sure to pick those that are quality-made. Items, that I can still use (reuse) in many years to come. I always go with the traditional colors and theme. Just like what I did for this year. On the other hand, if you do have a budget to spend, then you can go all out :) like most celebrities do for their yearly Christmas Decorations.
(Excuse the mirror on top! still couldn't find the best one to replace it) Hehe..
This is actually the final phase of our little tree transformation. I just bought a few more ornaments and fillers just to make it look healthier. In setting up this tree, I decided to reuse the old ornaments and add up new pieces in bigger size. The snoopy miniatures were given to me as a gift, while the big once were a collection from McDonalds Kiddie meal through the years. I surrounded the trees and garlands with Christmas lights. Underneath and across it are miniatures, where it seems as cheerfully playing, while others are doing their own thing. It looks so much better to stare at, when the bedroom lights are off. I DIY the ladder for Charlie Brown by the way (hehe).
Now, if you're wondering how much did I spend in doing this particular set up please see pictures below. Most of the items, I bought from either Landmark Makati or Alabang branch. I personally wish to go to Dapitan but since I only need just a few number of add-ons, I went to the most accessible place I can shop (after work). Choosing the best pieces for my theme and getting the best value for my money (budget).
THE GARLAND
Aside from the Christmas tree, I decided to bought a garland which is 9ft long at 189.75 pesos. I fold it in half (to make it more bulkier) and stick it on against the wall.
Then inserted the fillers on it. The small cherries costs 39.75 Pesos. One stem comes with three branches of cherries. What I do to lessen the cost, I removed the wrapper (on the stem) to reveal three different stick of cherries. Two sets gave me six pieces of cherry fillers already. Afterwards, I separated them across the garland. While the remaining pieces I put on the Christmas tree. The Snow Pine reminds me of Charlie Brown Christmas tree and that of what I saw on the comic book so I decided to add them to create a little story on my decor.
Though unicorn is what every little girls favorite characters nowadays, I don't have a budget to splurge on it (haha). That's why I choose to incorporate something that we already have. Stingy, but hey I was able to save a few bucks still. We have a collection of Snoopy and friends miniature, so I decided to put them up on the tree. My daughter likes it because she knew her toys are on display and have other usage too (hahaha).
I added up white balls and poinsettia (big and small) to make the tree look more lively. Then few more white and red cherries to add colors. On top, I concentrate putting up the big poinsettia and the glittered leaves at the middle to create a focus for the most known Peanut miniature - Snoopy on the roof. For the fillers, I use a branch of magnolia like (flower spray) flower. I also separated the stems of it and put them everywhere to reduce blank spots. I found it on the usual faux flower decor in Landmark by the way. Ahh! yes it's not a usual Christmas decor. However I feel like it can add a little interest on the tree. It actually made a huge difference to have them there.
Yes, this is another DIY project which I can proudly say my own. If you will look at it closely, the leaves, flower, cherries, gold and red balls, stems were either from my previous projects, old items or a part of the new items I bought. The wreath is the same wreath I used last year. The things that is basically new here is the ribbon (red with dots of gold and white balls. The stems, you see, were removed from the faux flowers and cherries. I make use of them here instead of putting directly on trash. What's amazing is that the leaves surprisingly creates a more cheerful and welcoming vibe for this door decor. Sergeant Joe holding a flashlight seems like asking "who's there?" before he can let you in.
Let's all have a Great, Merry, Peaceful and Wonderful Christmas Celebration this year. Shall we?
Happy 1st of December to y'all :)
