My mornings will never be complete without taking a sip of a hot beverages. I have no qualms about coffee but I prefer and appreciate a cup of hot chocolate more. One morning I came to discovered a new (at least to me) set of hot beverages from PAN DE MANILA when I visited one of their stalls in Makati. I saw a variety of Spanish style hot beverages namely Cafe Mocha, Chocolate Blanco, Chocolate Con Leche, Cafe Con Leche and Chocolate Con Nueces on the shelves. Being a choco-lover of course I chose hot chocolate to pair with my tuna pandesal.
Spanish style chocolates are known to be creamy and thick and it is with PAN DE MANILA CHOCOLATE CON LECHE. It wasn't too sweet as compared to Swiss (my other favorite) or any other brands I have tried before. It has a dominant sugary aftertaste than the usual bittersweet savor that I expected. The taste ends up on my buds for quite some time but it wasn't irritating at all. I got curious and decided to read the ingredients (which I don't usually do) and found the word "MUSCOVADO" sugar written on its packaging. The word is something new to me so I've searched what it was and found some favorable facts about it.
Some of which are that "MUSCOVADO" came from the Spanish word "MASCABADO" which means unrefined. It is also known as a purest form of sugar where natural nutritional contents of sugarcane are retained such as calcium, manganese, phosphorous, potassium, iron, zinc and other vitamins. MUSCOVADO sugar has a nutritional health benefits, is all natural and organic than of those refined sugar we commonly used at home.
So now I know and understand hahaha... Wow, I gained a new knowledge just by drinking a cup of hot chocolates!
