MY WARDROBE REHAB EXPERIENCE

Hey y'all! hehehe kamusta kayo?! First Friday of November and last working day of the week hehehe... I basically went to work for three days because of the long weekend and tomorrow is my free day again!

Do you feel how time passes so quickly these days? so before the month ends, let me first commend the previous month - October because of so many good things it brought unto me and of how productive the month has been (he he). I am not preempting anything but the 10th month was and always been the most dormant month (at least for me). However this year it came differently, so I feel blessed and happy to be able to accomplished a lot of things during the whole month.

With some out of town trips, gala, projects to begin and event to attend to I wasn't able to write much except of the a DIY Project I posted here three (3) weeks ago. But like what I mentioned earlier, I've pretty much spent the month wisely. One of the things I am happy about was putting an end to my wardrobe dilemma. It was frustrating, irritating and at the same time a not so good sight to see every single day of my life to the point that I needed to shout

I NEED A WARDROBE REHAB!

Have you ever thought about letting go of some things you've hold onto for so long but wasn't able to do so. You know it hits you badly every single day and then you let yourself live like it for decades. That's how difficult my wardrobe/closet is  kaya napapa #hugot ako ng ganito. Imagine having a closet with limited space, full of clothing yet still giving you a headache - that's my closet. The struggle is real!

The description and the #feels... I had to filter it in black  & white
because yes, I am also embarrassed about it but at the same
time I am determined to make a change.

Oh wait, not that I never tried to organised it before. To be honest, I did. I made countless attempts but would always end up into a disaster after three days. It's a miracle if it will last for a week. I've been trying but still end up having it more like a dump of trash after. (Harsh... grinning).... and I am not happy with it and of myself. I think my frustration has reached it's saturity that I decided to make a change. I have no one to help me out but myself so I have no choice but to do it own my own. That 's what happened four weeks ago and after a month I was able to pull it off, saving myself for a not so cool dilemma.

HOW WAS I ABLE TO DEAL WITH IT?

I needed to convince myself that I can do it and that I can create a workable long lasting solution for my own dilemma. I've read a lot of tips and advises from the internet, some seems viable but not everything we see is attainable. So I had to write down and decide what will work for me and came up with the following guides/ solutions.

Step 1 - EMPTY YOUR CLOSET AT ONCE!
Without hesitation removed everything from your closet, in a way you can see the structure and size of it. Just to give you a clear view of how big or small your closet and the volume of clothing that it can hold. Another reason you'll might get surprise of the volume of clothes you've owned through the years. If you haven't remove a thing or two in many years well good luck to you! he he he (now is the best time to find it out yourself).

Step 2 - SORT OUT CLOTHES ACCORDING TO MEANS

This part is quite tricky so be very careful not to be overwhelmed and confuse. In this step, you'll need to get rid of the clothes that has no use or not need anymore. Harsh words for the "get rid" but it could really save you just as it did to me (promise). But it doesn't mean that you have to put it directly on the trash okay... (kalma). What I mean by this is that you have to free your mind and emotions by trying not to hold on some clothes that you thought was memorable but has no use at all. I for example had a separate container and paper bag for items to DONATE and items to DIY. If you can and have the means, you may add items to SELL. Furthermore sort everything out by answering the following...

S.2.1  Clothes that doesn't fit anymore. I found items in my closet in size XS (Jeans, Shirt, blouses, etc.) . Most of it were still in good condition and some I have worn once or twice before I got pregnant. I gave birth and gained much weight and in two to five years I found myself shopping for M sizes. I donated some of my things years ago but HOLD ON to some I really like. Because again, I am holding on to the thought that I may get back in size XS soon. And then I decided to go back in shape recently but settle to meet in the middle (S). So I had to let go of items that cannot meet my shape and body size half way (he he he). I kept those items that fits perfectly on me.

S.2.2 Items that you eagerly shop for but never worn. I have found 4 sets of these from my wardrobe. It still fits well on me but the cuts were outdated. So I decided to put them in a separate bag where clothes for DIY Project Category is being kept.

S.2.3 Themed outfits or costumes - I have these in my closet because our company celebrates Christmas with a theme every single year. From long gown black tie theme, to 70's theme and cultural theme I have no choice but to ask Mama sew clothes for me. Renting has never been an option because it's a one day big time event and it only happens once a year. Though renting seems to be practical, I choose to have it as new as possible. Most of these items I brought to my Mama's dress shop so others can rent it and can make use of it.

S.2.4 Clothes that are faded, worn out, shabby, damaged (beyond repair) - Yes I still have them. Mostly old tees that I made into sando. Few items with holes or damaged parts which I converted into Pantulog. But come to think of it we only have 7 nights per week right? I had more than 14 pantulog some legit some converted into it... (hahahaha) No one else sees me in my pajama except those I am with at home? so why did I have to keep all these. Mabawasan nga ng mabawasan din ang labahan....

Step 3 - CLASSIFY YOUR WARDROBE ESSENTIALS.
I know there are a long list of wardrobe essentials in this world. But let's keep it simple and basic. I lived in a tropical island with only two seasons - dry and wet. My number one rule in buying clothes, I make sure it is comfortable to wear. Comfortable in my own words, okay... because what's comfortable with me may not be comfortable for you... so you need to define it yourself. After sorting out my clothes and found what I needed to keep.

I further classify them according to the following:

S.3.1 Everyday outfit - are composed mostly of Jeans, Basic Tee and Polo. These group includes items that I usually wore at work and those na pambahay. Folded it and kept them by group: jeans with jeans, basic plain tee's with the same, tee's with prints group, and polo, night wear, shorts and sando. (pagsama - samahin ang pare-pareho - batibot). I folded them neatly according to which group they belong. Put in on the rack that are easily reachable. (Yung kita agad at hindi kana mag e effort maghanap.. ganun!)

S.3.2 Outfits by Occasion/Season - these group composed of the clothes I wore by occasion, like formal dress, formal pants, jackets, and swimwear. Fold it neatly and kept it on the second level.

It seems to be easy right? Well, it took me a whole day to sort out my clothes, fold them and kept them neatly. The items that I remove from the closet, items to donate and items for DIY well it took me a couple of weeks to finalize.

Step 4 - DEFINING YOUR OWN SENSE OF STYLE
In the process, it came clear to me that I am more laid back - jeans and basic tee lover than what I thought I am trying to be. So that make sense that I always get this feeling of confidence and contrast depending on what I actually wear and of those that I thought I should wear. Pretty much telling me that I need to buy clothes according to my need and taste not because it's what's hot in the market.

I haven't done shopping for new clothes yet, but I am yearning to shop soon and that would be exciting. Now that I know what color, palettes, style are more appropriate for me I can finally shop logically. Basically something that suits well with my morena skin, fits well on me and bring out the confidence in me.

Step 5 - PRACTICE, MAINTAIN AND MAKE IT A NEW LIFESTYLE

I get through with my first 35 days, the pile in my closet are neatly organised until this very moment. Allow me to brag about it a little ha? may I? ha ha ha... It was an accomplishment for me it lasted this long and I planned to keep it that way. Clean, folded and well piled clothing that are neat to look at. I have freed my mind from clutter and disorientation. I think it started to flow on my system that finding a little disarrangement, consternation comes next and the urgency to fix it comes naturally. I am also looking into achieving a minimalist wardrobe soon but I'll take it slowly for now.

If this entry happens to reached your attention by now and that you have the same problem like mine. I wish and hope that it somehow gives light to you as well. I never thought I can do it, but I did so you can. Live to learn and learn to live. Let's keep on improving ourselves and change for the better.

Much  ♥ LOVE ♥
