Fairy god mother on the works!!! Winks...
HOW TO MAKE A NO SEW SNOW WHITE RED HEADPIECE.
1. PREPARE MATERIALS such as:
- RIBBON (RED)
- PLAIN HEAD BAND
- GLUE GUN
- GLUE STICK
- MARKER
- SCISSOR
2. MEASURE THE LENGTH OF RIBBON TO BE USED TO COVER THE HEADBAND.
As you can see I also used a red plain plastic headband and might be wondering why I still need to cover it with red satin ribbon. Well, simple because I wanted to create a uniform headpiece that will match perfectly on her dress. Unless of course I found a bow that perfectly match the shiny plactic material of the headpiece then no need to do this project of course. lol Anyways here is the price for both
Satin Ribbon - 1 yard at 9.50 Php
Plastic Headband - 10.00 Php
Before cutting the ribbon, make sure to put at least 1/2 an inch for both ends.
3. FIND AND MARK THE CENTER OF THE HEADPIECE AND RIBBON - COVER IT PERFECTLY.
Fold the cut ribbon in half (equally flat). Grab the head band and glue the center of the ribbon (the crease will be your guide) on top of it. Then work on each side thoroughly by putting a hot glue on top and flattening the ribbon closely. Be careful not to sear your palm nor your fingers with it.
5. FINISH IT BY CLOSING BOTH ENDS.
Once the headband is fully covered. Last thing you need to do is cut the excess ribbon at both end. Preferably follow the shape of the edge, if round make a round shape, if straight follow the same cut with again minimum allowance of .5cm. Put a glue on the tip of the ribbon and closed it together.
THE MAKING OF THE RED BOW
Other than her red lips, beautiful skin as white as snow and the poisoned apple that are vividly turns red. Snow white is also known for her graciously Red Head piece.
To complete my daughter's snow white costume I continue to work on finishing the headpiece by making the red bow and this time I put a little identity to it (personalized). Making a single ribbon into two dimensional bow to make it more refreshing and 3D like.
HOW TO DO IT
1. USE THE EXCESS RIBBON (SATIN) to make a bow. Cut the desired length you wish to work on. Short length will create a little bow, a longer length will create a bigger bow. Just ensure to make the length proportionate with the headband but not covering the rest of it but literally make the bow the centerpiece.
I am working on a two dimensional bow using the same one piece of ribbon. So I've used a 9 inches ribbon length.
2. Fold the ribbon into half to create a crease. This will be your center guide. Flip on the other side and make both ends meet at the center just over the crease. Hot glue by folding one side to the center and same goes with the other end. Do not overlap the each ends. With this you will be able to create two enclosed loop (more like a rectangle). Put a little glue to enclosed it perfectly then immediately create a little wave at the center with the use of your fingers. A more of like doing a layer/fold at the center to make it a simple bow.
3. Grab at least 1 inch of excess ribbon. Hot glue both edge vertically. Wrap around the center wave/fold of the bow and cover it perfectly. An ample amount of glue is needed to cover and hold the folds perfectly.
4. Then from the same bow, make another loop for each side by making a loop an inch fold. You can use your finger to make a simple loop and hot glue both side from the inner part (matte part of the ribbon). Do the same in the other side. More of like doing a loop just like in gift wrapping.
THEN FINALLY. Hot glue the back of the bow and attached it at the center the head band.
Here is the final DIY PROJECT....
