My first Archery experience happened late last year at Kodanda Makati branch. It was such a learning and fun experience I immediately develop fondness towards the sport. However, I wasn't able to come back in the range for a long time due to my crazy busy schedule.
Then a good news came in a month ago when I was invited to visit and play Archery once more. Moreover, this time I got to play it at their newly opened branch at BF HOMES Parañaque which happens to be a nearby town from where I lived. At last! I can conveniently return to the range and play Archery whenever I want to. This is a new offering for my fellow southerners too who are on a hunt for some new adventure. ☺
HOW TO GET THERE
The newly opened Kodanda Archery Range is situated at the second floor of Metro star Mall in Aguirre Street BF Homes Parañaque.
The mall rise at the left side of the road, just a few kilometers away from BF Homes Main Gate. If you are commuting, you can ride a jeepney (Southland) or tricycle passing along Aguirre street. If you have a car or motorcycle but has no sticker you can temporarily leave an I.D to the security personnel at the guard post (upon entry) in exchange for a gate pass . Make sure though to return the gate pass and claim your ID upon exit.
Enter at the mall and you'll find this signage stands in between the stairs and the elevator. Take the stairs going up to the second floor (the elevator is not yet operational).
At the second floor of the building take a few steps to the left and you will see the entrance to Kodanda range.

Sorry about the props, I got too excited to come back at the range I forgot to leave my things behind. ☺ |

WHAT TO EXPECT
I am pleased for what I saw the interior exudes a contemporary modern look, very neat and orderly arranged, it was impressive. With the rich wood flooring, the row of white lighting, the black end wall enhances the blue target board at the center hence creates a great visuals of the target. The indoor range has this wide shooting distance of 5, 8 and 10 meters respectively.
Expect to be greeted by the staff at the registration area and furthermore walk inside room and you'll see this ▼

REGAINING MY BALANCE AND FOCUS
Going back to the range and playing archery for the second time made me feel thrilled and nervous. It's been long since the last time I visited the range but thanks to Shirley (Branch Supervisor) for giving me some sort of refresher course that day. First, I was asked to read and understand the RANGE RULES AND ARCHER'S ETIQUETTE (Note: very important to follow the guidelines at all times once you are inside the range, you'll know why if you visit them). After which, equipment and tools are handed to me including the bow, arrows, finger tab (guard) and bag while Ms. Shirley placed the sheet on the target board. She also reminded me about the stance, the grip and of course on how to execute shooting.

Even my husband couldn't resist to play Archery again....
My husband couldn't hide his excitement to hit the bull's eye but the emoticons are unnecessary. Haha |
Our best shot :) |
I also learned that establishing a proper form is critical for every archer. If you are serious towards learning the sport you'll understand that without a proper form you cannot effectively hit the target (arrows landing anywhere far from the bull's eye). So I thought I might as well focus on developing my stance (FORM) on my next visit. Anyhow I had a great time shooting and was happy about the results. Archery teaches discipline and consistency. It is physically challenging (though not as strenuous when played outdoor, I believe) but it helps develop concentration and posture. I find it mentally refreshing because my focus is on target alone and that I didn't have to worry about anything else. Suprisingly, it is indeed emotionally rewarding because I got to release my inhibitions and see good results afterwards. I am so grateful to have been introduced to Archery and have experienced it all with KODANDA.
I had a great time visiting BF Homes Parañaque branch, the team are genuinely accommodating and it is was a pleasure to meet them.
Photo Op with the team :) With Sir Emman, Ms. Grace and Ms. Shirley. Can you tell which one is our wacky shot ☺ hehehe... |
So if you are from the SOUTH and ARE ON THE HUNT to try a new activity without splurging your riches (hehehe) but rather doing something worthy. I recommend that you visit the newly opened KODANDA ARCHERY Range at BF HOMES PARANAQUE Branch - a venue where you, your family or your friends can bond, enjoy, play and learn. They can even help release your hidden potentials that you never thought you had. It's healthy to come out from our comfort zones and learn something new once in a while so make sure to visit Kodanda the soonest and play Archery.
