FAB FINDS! BACK TO SCHOOL HAUL

It's back to school season and we got a grade schooler!

My daughter started schooling when she was 4 years old, during those years I was the one who personally shop for her school needs. However, this time around we decided to completely involve her. We thought it's the best time to do it now that she's fully aware of what school is all about. The main reason why this Back to School blog now exist for the very first time. ☺

And when I say get involved... it means (not only ) having fun while shopping but it also meant she'll be able to learn to buy things consciously and wisely. We gave her the freedom to roll the cart. She finds it enjoyable, then papa-bantayan sa daddy nya pag kukuha na siya ng gamit (hehehe) and start shopping for what's on the lists. Somehow instilling a sense of ownership and responsibility. She has the freedom to get what she needed (not totally want) and be aware to take good care of her belongings while at school.

So without further adieu, here's Our or should I say - McKenzie's Back to School FAB FINDS!

REQUIRED SCHOOL SUPPLIES

- being a LAKING NATIONAL kid myself, I definitely know where to bring my daughter.  Sa National Bookstore siyempre. Andun na kasi halos lahat ng kailangan. One stop shop ika nga, walang masasayang na oras for us at walang kahirap hirap. We have the list of what was required by the school and we used it as shopping guide na rin. Here are some of her personal picks.

Price at 28.75 Php each

She initially pick up a barbie covered notebooks which was around 29 Php a piece, with thin pages pa. So I guided her by giving her alternatives. We went to find a notebook with thicker pages in it. Then I ask her to choose the designs and colors. She pick these cute dotted notebooks. She picked 11 different colors from these designs. Good choice din kasi mas madali nya madi distinguish kung anong notebook ang kukunin sa bawat subject. We got the notebook at 28.75 per piece. Humanap na lang din kami ng NUMBER Sticker (from art/craft display) para mas madali nya rin maalala kung anong number ng notebook na kailangan niya kunin every time ipakuha ni teacher.

Ginawa namin color and number coded yung mga notebooks (hehehe)

#1 - Assignment Notebook - Red
# 2 - English Notebook - Blue
# 3 - Math Notebook - Red
........ and so on.

I made her to choose what color is for every subject.

While for the papers and other small stuffs, I ask her to pick mostly from the Home Brands - best buy from BEST BUY, Mongol, Crayola and the likes.

I was looking for a case to keep her small stuffs sana, kasi ginamit niya yung lumang case para lagyan ng mga clay niya. Medyo alanganin pa ko sa Sofia pouch na kinuha nila ng daddy nya dahil 149.75 ang price.  Kasi kung ako sana I would take a 50php worth of pencil case kaso di naman kasya yung crayons dun so OKAY na ko sa napili nya. Hehehe

SCHOOL BAG, SOCKS & WHITE CAMISOLE

Here are some of the other essentials that she needs din for school. Camisole we got it at 219.75 Php for 3. The socks 230.00 Php for 3 pairs na din. :) That cute butterfly bottle holder was a giveaway from Robinsons Department Store. All of the stuffs mentioned above, we bought from Robinsons.

But the winner of all, was this Peppa Pig Trolley.  Convertible to backpack with extra small bag for snack. Her previous bags were already worn out na din, mahal ang pag kabili pero hindi rin nagtatagal siguro sa bigat na rin ng mga books. Anyways, I hope this one naman eh magamit niya ng pang matagalan.

The compartment are much bigger than the previous bag. It also has side pockets and additional compartment inside. The price is at 3199.75 Php... WAIT!

That's the original SRP, we got it on sale for only 1,250 Php. Big discount! Josh and Kenzie found it among the array of school bags, right after we jumped off the escalator at the 4th floor. It's the last piece already. FAB FIND! Clap clap clap...

See?!

NOW THIS!

Remember this photo?

I posted it on instagram as mini DIY project. This was actually my daughter's first pair of school shoes. She's been using it at school since 2014. We got it on a small shop along Montillano in Alabang for only 250.00 Php. The shoes serves her well for two school years that's why it looks totally worn out na. But I had to DIY it so she can use it for the very last time during recognition day. Nag mukhang decent naman diba? see the before and after. But it doesn't fit well on her na rin dahil wala na halos allowance.

So we knew she needed new pair for this school year. We roam around different stores at Festival mall to look for it and found one from WORLD BALANCE.

Screengrab from the website

EASYSOFT SCHOOL SHOES
CLAIRE L BLACK
Price: 399.75 Php

Most school shoes we saw on display were priced at 800-1K up so we run to different shops around the mall to find the best deals pa. Then we remember WB and learned they also got back to school shoe offerings. It has a 150 php difference from the previous one. However, we consider the quality, flexibility and softness ng easysoft magaan para sa bata. Hindi pa agad masisira kahit mabasa ng ulan! So another fab find!

My husband put a budget of 3,000.00 for McKenzie's back to school supplies. We were able to grab everything she needs for the total amount of 2,650.00 (rounded up) at the end of our shopping.

Clap clap clap... we were able to take home Jollibee meals pa dahil may sukli hehehe :) We're very happy on the outcome of Mckenzie's back to school shopping haul :)

Excuse my haggard face hehehe :)
