Since it's the season to be jolly and I am still on the mood for decorating. I decided to do small, In- season-D.I.Y project. If you were able to follow my posting about our bedroom makeover which I reveal last November, you might probably chance upon this cute hanging kit we had at the back of the door. It triggered me to do a whole batch of themed Christmas decor project. As of today, I already made 4 simple projects. I' am planning to have 21 more in varieties to go with the 25 days countdown, but I didn't want to overdo everything, so we'll see.
For now, here is what I can share to you.
For now, here is what I can share to you.
Let me start with....
No. 1 - DIY FRONT DOOR WREATH
What you'll need: Circular shaped artificial wreath, faux berries, red and butter gold balls, snowflakes ornament, wired ribbons, word decor, scissor, hot glue and glue gun.
Random Christmas Ornament personally picked by McKenzie mostly from Ace Hardware. |
HOW TO DO IT: Using a wire clamp wreath, I started spreading the needles (the leaves of a pine tree) separately to make it look bulky and healthy. Next, I made a simple bow using the wire ribbon. Placed it on one side, hot glued the snowflake on top of it and then place the word PEACE on the other side. After which, I divided the faux berries equally to three different spots. To keep it in my preferred place I twisted the berries and the leaves together. Then lastly, I placed the balls to each sides of the wreath. I prefer to place the ornaments from the middle top going inwards rather than outwards. This is because I love to see the evergreens more than having it overpowered by Christmas ornaments. I think by doing so, I also make a focal point on the wreath and make the center visibly pretty.
No. 2 - DIY HANGING DISPLAY NOTE/PHOTO FRAME
What you'll need: Wood Frame, Jute Strings, Wooden Clip, Plier, Heavy Duty Stapler & Staple wire.
HOW TO DO IT: Remove glass from the frame including the metal stopper on each side. Add Staple wires from the back of the frame. I did 4 shots vertically and 3 on both horizontally. I am used U shape heavy duty staple wires to keep the string in place. Now, insert jute strings and tie it securely on the first loop (staple). Then continue to insert strings on each wires alternately, whether horizontally or vertically, depending on how you want your strings to look like after. Make sure to straighten each loop of strings. At the last loop double tie the strings. Cut out the excess strings and place the wooden clips on each string or group of strings. You may use it to hold some of your notes or photos of your choice. Keep it neat and simple.
DIY 3 - DIY GIFT TAGS
Finally after so many years, we were able to do an Christmas shopping. Exactly by the end of November (Holiday). No more last minute shopping and gift wrapping overtime for me! Hahahaha... This time around, I was able to do a little level up on my wrapping style.
What you'll need: Wrapping Paper (I use Kraft paper (brown) for some gifts), a jute twine, a DIY Gift Tags. scissor, tape, single hole puncher, printer, specialty paper or photo paper.
HOW TO DO IT: Create a template on your computer, you may use MS Word or Power point. Insert preferred shape of your tag and outline it. Insert text or word (of your preferred font style) you wish to include and or a photo of any icon or drawing that strongly reminds you of Christmas. Layout according to design and group it together. You may want to insert a circle guide on top so it would be easier for you to punch a hole later on. Once done save it and print out your art work.
Here's a sample:
Cut out your custom gift tags and punch a hole from the guide. Do your usual wrapping style. Mine, I added up jute string on my gifts this year. Then, insert gift tag on each, before enclosing the strings together. Lastly, double enclosed it by making a simple ribbon/ bow using the same jute strings.

No. 4 - DIY CHRISTMAS ART WALL
It's a no-brainier DIY project. It is so simple even your kids can do it or help you out.
What you'll need: Frames, Glossy Photo Paper, Printed Christmas quotes and art display.
( I got mine from P interest!)
Originally, we have these art display on top our our headboard. But since I am going into a Christmas theme display, I decided to change the art display for awhile. And end up having this tonight.
Aren't they cute to look at? (Oh not us honey, I am talking about the small framed art work ;) |
HOW TO DO IT: Simply print out your preferred art for display. Print it based on the size of your frames. Then simply remove the old print out (keep it aside) and frame your fresh batch of print outs.
That's all for now, be sure to go back and check out for my upcoming small DIY projects in the coming days. :)
Happy Holidays!
