Highschool life, on my highschool life
Ev'ry memory, kay ganda
Highschool days, oh my highschool days
Are exciting, kay saya... ♪♫♪♪♫♪
(The song being played during our last day in high school)
I know, I am just being nostalgic... I missed high school life once in a while. I mean who doesn't? Those years when the word "STRESS" is out of our vocabulary (lol). Funny but true. I think most of you can relate to that.
Those years when all you have to do is to wake up early in the morning, attend a flag ceremony, passed the quizzes and exam, give your best answer during recitation, have lunch and eat your classmates food (lol), have a non-stop story telling and chismisan with your group of friends. Join extra curricular activities that can make you exempted in one subject's exam or more (lol). Those years when you shed tears with your friends about not hitting your expected rank in the class. The first time you went to the mall with friends, got a taste of independence (lol). The first time you experienced to be held and hand cupped so you can join your crush at the marriage booth (yup, dream on! lol) during school foundation. When you got to ride a caterpillar or Ferris wheel for free (well not totally free because you need to surrender your ticket in every rides). The first time you were excited about attending a prom and wore your favorite gown. Those times that you get to compete with others in an amicable and fun way (no hurt feelings) and the lists goes on.....
It was in high school where drama, action, comedy and thriller happens (lol for the thriller). It was then, you started to create a bond of friendship with other human beings and came up with your own group name. It was when fashion started making sense. How can one forget the two colored tone socks for girls in neon colors (lol). The colorful butterfly rings and hair clip. The transparent shoulder or backpack bags is a hit. The in demand nail sticker for girls that you can buy for only 10 pesos. The uniformed notebook and book cover matching with the fancy ball pens. The Sanrio and Anime characters that were so in demand. Oh did I mentioned already about the (walang kamatayang) Autograph book (this one I still keep in my memorabilia box, promise... lol). School hallways and stairways became our TAMBAYAN during break time (our favorite spot is the stairway near our school chapel). There were times that you get into petty fights because of peer pressure and bullying (that exist too) and then you will be invited inside the guidance counselor's room. The undying stories about the white lady loitering in the hallway (some say they saw it) and hearing stories of such gives you a goosebump (lol). Those times when you get to confide your problems with your dear friends and they will be there to listen and cry with you. Those years that you love to dream and make plans for the future even when you were unsure about tomorrow and the lists of memorable events goes on...
My realization is that more than anything what I miss most about high school are my friends. High school life would never be as memorable as it is if not with my friends around me. Time flies so fast, some of us have a family of our own already. Small get together brings back good old memories that why when we found out that one of our good friends will be coming back to Manila from overseas. I was so thrilled at the idea to have a mini reunion and to finally meet them again after fourteen long years. I would like to share with you the snapshot of our quick get-together along with our old pictures. (We only have one official photo for the get together because our time was consumed by our walang sawang kwentuhan)

Even if it was such a quick get together, it was indeed the best small talk over dinner moment for us (though feels bitin, of course). We were the last person to leave the restaurant that night and had to continue doing our thing in the mall's walk way, imagine that! (just like what we do every day after our classes ended, chatting and laughing before we parted ways going home.)
It was good to know that even if we have different lives together and for the fact that we haven't got the chance to meet and communicate like the way we used to be, the bond we have were all the same and our friendship remained intact. It felt like yesterday when we saw each other, when in fact it was almost a decade ago. Proven that indeed true friendship lasted not long - but for a life time.
What about you? what do you miss the most about being in high school? Isn't fun to reminisce good old days?
P.S.
This blog is dedicated to my dearest friends in high school (Angie, Angel, Joie, Leitzel, Grace & Willen) . We may have different lives now but the bond we have will forever be intact. Cheers to the wonderful years we had and for the lasting friendship that we have created. I am one proud MCB#01! ♥♥♥♥
